Darwin F. Morales was born on 1958 in one the most smallest enchanting countries of South America, Ecuador. At an early age, he was influenced by his well-known artist twin uncles, Rafael and Luis Portilla. One was an artist and the other was an art dealer. This is when his interest and eye for all forms of art blossomed, beginning the venture into the world of art.
After a few years and during a continuous learning cycle in a striving and escalating art business, in 1983, at the age of 25, he established his first "Art Gallery Gala" in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Gala began with a small art store and through the years grew into a two story art center. The remodeling the the art center was exciting since it was the first of its kind in the industrial city of Guayaquil. In 1990, Darwin co-produced the artwork bio of Enrique Tabara written by Carlos Arean, "Tabara" and was the cultural writer for the national magazine "Elite" for several years.
Also in 1990, "Gala Centro de Arte" opened its doors to one of the most spacious and modern art venues of the Ecuadorian coast. Gala inaugurated its multiple exhibition salons with an extraordinary one man collection of one the most important Ecuadorian masterful artist and dear friend of Darwin, Eduardo Kingman. The center under Darwin's guidance was a exquisite hub for many renowned artists, Guayasamin, Mena Franco, Shinky, Theo Constante, Endara Crow, etc. and opened doors for many emerging artists for over a decade.
During Gala's golden years, it granted art lovers ingenious national and international creativity in a plural scheme of styles and expressions with one-man and collective shows. After 15 years of endearing the most exciting and unforgettable journey in the magical world of creativity, Gala closed its doors due to a life threatening medical condition of a daughter and Darwin headed to USA where he currently resides but continues to provide elusive international artwork to emerging and experienced collectors.
